Auditions! "Be My Baby" by Ken Ludwig

Forgive me for not blogging earlier about Jeff Johnson's directorial debut and the auditions for "Tom Sawyer."  (The auditions are today between 10am and 3pm -- so that's why I'm apolgizing for the tardiness of this message.)

But here's the information for Ken Ludwig's play, "Be My Baby.":

Auditions:
Mon and Tue, February 1-2, 2010 from 7:30 - 9:30 PM

Director Ingrid Boydston is looking for three men and three women, between the ages of 20 and 70. British/Scottish accents are desireable but not mandatory. Be prepared to read from the script and bring your calender to check for rehearsal and performance availability.

The story centers on Maud, an uptight English matron, and John, a brusque middle-aged Scotsman, who despise each other, despite the fact that his ward has married her niece. When the young couple decides to adopt a baby, Maud and John find themselves flying to California to escort the infant back to Scotland. Stranded in San Francisco through a series of misfortunes, they form a new partnership and learn some startling lessons about life and love.

Auditions will be held at the Canyon Theatre Guild Playhouse. If you have questions, please call the Canyon Theatre Guild box office at (661) 799-2702.

Twelfth Night - Jan 8th - Jan 17th

Oh... how I wish I could have been in this show!  Sadly, I was up north visiting relatives over the holiday.  While I was busy wrapping Christmas presents and getting soggy in the wet and windy Seattle weather, a different kind of storm has been brewing at the Canyon Theatre Guild:

A shipwreck off the coast of Illyria leaves Viola thinking her twin brother is dead. Disguising herself as her dead brother, she becomes an attendant to Duke Orsino, the ruler of Illyria. Duke Orsino sends Viola (now known as Caesario in her disguise as a boy), to the Lady Olivia, with whom he is in love. Things become complicated when Olivia falls in love with Viola, who she thinks is a man, and Viola falls in love with Duke Orsino, who also thinks she is a man. When her twin brother, who is not dead after all, turns up, things become even more confusing. Add to this Sir Toby Belch, Olivia’s drunken uncle, and Sir Andrew Aguecheek, who also has his eye on Olivia, along with Maria, and Fabian, servants to Olivia, and Feste, a melancholy clown, all seeking revenge on the head servant Malvolio, and you have the recipe for total chaos and confusion!

Performed by the "UPSTART CROWS," a group of actors dedicated to classic theatre, the cast includes Kelly Bader, Robert Clark, Alexis Crane, Joshua DiPaola, Andrew Fish, Jason Goldberg, Jeff Johnson, Mike Keane, Tim Kendall, David Kenny, Amanda Kramer, Kamber Moen, Joe Roseland, Brian Watts, and Raquel Westlake. The production is under the direction of Mike Davies and Tamarah Ashton-Coombs.
Performances of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night will be at 8:00 PM on Friday and Saturday evenings, January 8, 9, 15, 16; and at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 10 and 17. Tickets are $7 for Juniors and Seniors and $10 for adults.

Order your tickets ASAP: (661) 799-2702

PS: Can you find Illyria on this old map?
